Izmir (Smyrna) is the third largest city in Turkey, with an area inhabited by more than 12 thousand square kilometers and a population that exceeds 3 million. Since its foundation it became famous for its harbor, one of the most important for the trade and exportation of figs, currants and nuts.

The city seems at first glance like a very modern place, but just among the modern buildings you will see t the remains of the glorious past,  with all its grandeur.

After a panoramic tour of the city, we will visit the New Archaeological Museum of Izmir, essential moment of our itinerary. Three spacious rooms, dealing respectively with the statues, objects and ceramics, are equipped with a modern lighting system that will reveal, among the many valuable remains, a very suggestive historical journey.

Then, we will walk through the promenade to Karsiyaka, a modern area that is the second neighborhood of the city. Here we will have free time to rest, relax and shop in the typical streets of the town, before crossing the Gulf of Izmir in a small boat and get to Alsancak, where our bus will be waiting to take you back to the ship.
