Halicarnassus Tour (Bodrum-Gökova-Bodrum / 8 days- 7 nights)

Departures every Saturday and Sunday

Day 1: Bodrum

Check in aboard will start at 15:30 hrs., in Bodrum Harbour. For this first day, our gulet will stay at Port for dinner and night, for you to explore Bodrum, with a history from the 12nd century B.C, when the city was called Halicarnassus. It was the cradle of Herodotus, the “Father of History” and Dionysos, author of a valuable volume of the History of Rome. Halicarnassus was a famous city specialy because of the “Mausoleum” of King Mausolus (350 B.C.), one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

But there is only one structure that survived from the Classical Era: the Amphitheatre, for 13.000 people that, although one of the oldest theatres in Anatolia, still hosts some shows and concerts. The Castle of Saint Peter is known as the landmark of the city and a must see for being one of its best preserved pieces of architecture from the Middle Ages. You should not miss the “Myndos Gate” either. Through the Myndos Gate Alexander the Great entered Halicarnassus.

Day 2: Orak Island – Cokertme

After breakfast, you will receive information about the cruise itinerary, the gulet and the rules aboard. Then, we will sail to Orak Islands with an unbelievably beautiful underwater topography that you can explore by swimming and diving. After lunch in Orak we will cruise to Cokertme, a small and picturesque fishing town. Here we will have dinner and stay the night and you can have a nice walk on its shores.

Day 3: Seven Islands (Kufre- Uzun Liman/ Long Port) – English Harbour

Quite early in the morning, before breakfast, we will cruise to Seven Islands. Located between the capes Teke Burnu and Taneli Burnu, they consist of seven islands, 3 in the North and 4 in the Northeast- Southwest direction. In this region, full of small islands as well, we recommend you to swim and dive in the coral reef and have a good rest. You can also have a nice walk in the pine tree forests near the Kufre Bay before sailing to Uzun Limani (Long Port). For dinner and night we will anchored at the English Port, called like that because of the many British Navy ships that used to dock here during World War II.

Day 4: Cleopatra Island- Karacasogut

In this 4th day we will go to Sedir (Cedrae) Island, a unique place with a small, clear watered beach, wich looks like an oper-air museum. You will admire the city walls, the Dorian Temple (restored as a church), the 1500 seats Ampitheatre and other historical buildings. You will also find here the wrecks of ancient pillars with antique writings and highlighted old stones. Located in this island it is Cleopatra Beach, with a rare kind of sand you would only find in the deserts of Northern Africa.

According to the legend, Marc Anthony brought that sand by ships from Egypt, as a special gift for Cleopatra. After discovering this special island we will sail to the village of Karacasogut, where we will have dinner and spend the night. Karacasogut is just 25 kilometers away from Marmaris, so you can take a dolmus (minibus) in the village and visit this beautiful city. We also offer you an optional, lovely tour to Dalyan – Caunos.

Day 5: Longoz- Tuzla

After a morning swimming our turkish gulet will take you to Longoz Bay for lunch. This is another little paradise, safe and calm, with huge pine forests you can walk through. Here you can enjoy a nice stop to rest in Ali Baba’s cafe, with a peculiar shed-like looking. Later, we will be anchoring at Tuzla Bay for a swimming time in its  turquoise-blue waters. We will have dinner and overnight  stay at Tuzla.

Day 6: Kargili- Kisebuku (Alakisla Buku)

Early in the morning we will reach Kargili Bay (Molla Ibrahim Bay). After lunch, we will be anchoring at Kisebuku (Alakisla Buku), a perfect place to take a relaxing break and a cultural sightseeing among its ancient Byzantine ruins. After all the exploring you could take a swim, sunbake, and chill for the rest of the night in this lovely bay.

Day 7: Pabucburnu – Yaliciftlik – Bodrum

We will be at Pabucburnu for lunch and tea will be served in Yaliciftlik Bay. Here we can arrange an optional village tour, for those who aim to feel the local experience. Later, our gulet will sail back to Bodrum, for the last days dinner and night. As it would be your last night in our cruise, you can go together with your shipmates to have fun in Bodrum or stay in the gulet and have a special time with our crew.

Day 8: Bodrum

After breakfast, by 10:30 hrs., passenger will leave our boat with wonderful memories. We hope to see you again aboard for a new, different and unforgettable gulet cruise!
